Eberhard von Kurowski was a German Generalleutnant (general) in the Wehrmacht during World War II and Commander of the 110th Infantry Division in 1944, thus overseeing the deportations near Azaryčy. He also received the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. Von Kurowski surrendered to the Red Army in the course of the Soviet Viciebsk-Worša Offensive later that year. He was convicted a war criminal in the Soviet Union and held imprisoned until 1955. He died two years later in Austria.
