From March 18 to 20, 2019, commemorative events were held in Belarus to mark the liberation of the Azaryčy extermination camp. Organized by IBB J. Rau Minsk, the Leonid Lewin History Workshop, and the NGO Verständigung, they began on March 18 with a press conference at the National Library, where survivors, including Arkadij Shkuran, the author of the book Polesie: Tragedy and Memory, also spoke.
On March 19, a memorial meeting took place in Azaryčy, along with a book presentation of Polesie: Tragedy and Memory, and a screening of the documentary film “Osaritschi 1944” at the House of Culture in Krukavičy.
On March 20, the temporary exhibition “Osaritschi: Tragedy of the Civilian Population of Belarus” was opened at the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. The day concluded with a film screening and a panel discussion featuring survivors and historians.1
