During the interrogation, performed by Senior Lieutenant Karchanov, Adolf Lütte said that he believes that the command of the 110th Infantry Division is responsible for the crimes:
«Мне известно, что издаваемые преступные приказы верховного командования германской армии непосредственными исполнителями являлись командиры дивизий и полков, в то время как отдельные преступные приказы они могли и не выполнять, а они наоборот, на основании директив Гитлера о разрушениях советских городов и сёл, проявляли свою инициативу.

По директиве генерала фон Куровского […] войсками 110 пех. дивизии сжигались и разрушались города и населённые пункты, а мирное население, проживавшее в этих городах и сёлах, угонялось на запад, несмотря на то, что в числе мирных граждан были старики, женщины и дети и больные. Продовольственные продукты, а также крупные рогатый скот конфисковался, а то, что войска не могли взять с собой, — уничтожалось. Посевные площади и уже собранный урожай, также уничтожался. Войскам 110-й пех. дивизии совершенно не было дело до того, оставалось — ли, что нибудь гражданам для пропитания или нет». (Russian original)

Food and cattle were confiscated and what they couldn’t take with them, they destroyed. Planted areas and already harvested crops were destroyed as well. Soldiers of the 110th Inf.
