On April 16, 1944, a propaganda article was published in the Soviet newspaper Izvestia describing the situation in the territories occupied by the German army during the Second World War. It used the letter of thanks from the survivors of Azaryčy, which was published in the same issue, to propagandize the struggle of the Soviet people against the occupiers.
